Casio unveiled the all-new 7.2 megapixel Casio EX-Z700 in a stylish package and boasting a bright preview LCD. The 2.7" LCD has a brightness rated at 1200 cd/m2. Casio claims a long battery life on the EX-Z700, with as many as 460 digital still images on a single charge.
The Casio Z700 features Automatic Framing. When the subject is chosen, the camera uses an automatic tracking function that moves with the subject, so that it is in the center of the frame. So you can continue to shoot without having to worry about the subject moving out of the frame.
Thanks to anti-shake DSP, blurred images are no longer a concern. You can also shoot videos in AVI format (max resolution is 640×480), but recorded sound will be in mono. The lens is capable of 3x optical zoom and its 35mm equivalent would be 38-114mm.
One of the nice additions to this camera is the World Clock, with 162 cities that you can choose for a total of 32 time zones. Compatible with USB 2.0, the EX-Z700 runs on Li-ion rechargeable batteries. At 112g (excluding battery), it is pretty lightweight.
Sales of the Casio EX-Z700 start August 10, 2006 (for the silver model, Casio EX-Z700SR), and the gold and red models will arrive August 25.
